Well---my 66 elky is getting closer to paint.
We are now in the first blocking stages.
My bodyshop guy has been having me do a lot of this body stuff since I brought the car to him. Mostly just cutting bad portions out and refitting body panels as we get closer to paint.
Now that block sanding has started, and Henry, not wishing to do the whole car himself, has had me working on the first blocking.
And then later taping off the areas that have already been painted, jambs, reveals, dash & stuff.
What tedious work this is, and I had no idea before before actually being pointed to it.
These guys did the body and paint on my 59, and it turned out absolutely great. I pretty much assembled that car after paint in their shop.
I just made the "mistake" (:D) of telling him I would like to learn some of this stuff-------Boy---has he taken advantage of that!!!!
For the most part---the car has only been worked on when I came into the shop, and then only if their insurance work was slow. Predominately just me and Henry (in his 60s) have been working on it.
Another blocking----couple of issues to attend to----and maybe some more blocking, and it 'might' be ready for paint.
( my aftermarket SS hood fit amazing well)
I still have to get thru my son's 64 C-10 and my 79 C-10 (that I bought new when I was still 18), before I can give this a rest. Maybe I will learn how to do more of this stuff (being a blond, blue eyed pollack might not help tho:D)
So---to all of you painters & preppers-----WOW---hats off to you.
