Everytime I put my Chevell ss 454 back into the garage I Immediately smell a strong odor of fuel, especially when returing from a cruise.
I have checked the carb area and manifold right down to the fuel line back to the tank
and found no signs of wetness or seepage.Any
help in finding this culprit would be greatly appreciated and life saving. Thank You Fred O. P.S. The carburetor is a 4bbl YEP... Rodchester

I had the same problem and found it to be a leak in the tank where the vent lines came out.I never filled it far enough for it to get wet except for once! Smelled it for a few years before that.

Had the same problem as SSuper Dave...those little 4 inch long rubber fuel vent lines that come out of the top of each corner of the gas tank. One of mine was split and gas was seeping out. I replaced every one of those short pieces of fuel line. Even the other ends where those lines all meet above the differential. After I would come home after a night in the velle and go out in the garage about an hour later the gas smell was real noticable.

Hope this helps.

Could be your gas cap. Sometimes they are replaced with vented caps can leak from the low filler tube angle.

I fixed this problem with a fan! When I park the 'Velle, I turn on the fan in the garage for about an hour and blow the fumes out the door. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif Keeps the wife happy anyway.

Actually I'm glad I read this post so I know what to check.
