: Window adjusting expert
Chuck Dec 6th, 08, 2:15 PM My quarter window doesn't close at the top/rear and it's too far forward and hitting the door glass. If I open it a hair and move the stop so it clears the door, I get a gap at the top/rear. I am totally out of patience. It's also real tight going up.
Does anyone know a qualified person in the SF Bay area who really knows how to align the side windows. I have been working on it all day and just can't get there. I would imagine that, if you knew what you were doing, it wouldn't take more than a couple hours. At this point I think it's worth the money to just pay to have it done right.
Thanks
Chuck
k20mike Dec 6th, 08, 7:54 PM I can't help you with the adjustment because when I swaped mine I spent hours playing with them. My rear quarter also went up tight and I replaced the small track with another and it went up like butter. The track didn't look bent but it was twisting when the window was going up. Not sure if that's the case with yours but the different track worked for me.

harleythumper Dec 7th, 08, 8:27 PM I had the same problem. I used brake cleaner and a pick and cleaned and worked the plastic rollers. I got them to rotate and pivot and then lubed them with white grease. They didn't move before I cleaned them.
Chuck Dec 7th, 08, 11:39 PM My problem is that the rear quarter window seems to need to go toward the rear and I don't see an adjustment for that. If the window is all the way up and seated evenly across the top, it is too far forward and the door glass overlaps the seal and is laying on the chrome strip at the front edge of the rear window. If I open the rear quarter window slightly, so the leading edge mates correctly with the driver's door glass, there is a gap at the top. It seems that the solution is to move the window toward the rear of the car when it is all the way us...but there doesn't seem to be an adjustment for that.
The car is almost done and I hate to spend $40.00 on a Fisher manual for one window, one time.... especially if there is no adjustment for what needs to happen. I wish I had the doccumentation on the rear window. I have the 70 Fisher body manual, but the two years appear to be different.

I have two copies of the body manual. If you are still having trouble let me know and I can scan a few pages for you.
Chuck Dec 8th, 08, 11:43 AM That would be great Rich. I worked on it this weekend and got all of them lined up except for the rear quarter window. It's still makin' me crazy. If you could scan a PDF of the quarter window installation and adjustment pages I would be VERY grateful. I am at a point where the car is almost back together except for the rear interior and I can't finish that until the window is done.
After the 67, I said I would never do this again. What was I thinking? You would think that 5 Chevelles in my life, at one time or another, would be enough.
Thanks Rich. I will give it one more try if I can get the details.

harleythumper Dec 8th, 08, 6:27 PM Not sure if this is helpful, but on the bottom channel their are three holes. The studs should go in the front 2 holes. The rear one does not have a stud. When I put a stud in the rear hole I had problems with alignment. I did this by trial and error and by looking at fig 7-5 in a fisher manual for 1968's. Good luck!
r-alley Dec 8th, 08, 7:45 PM You might try taking off the other panel and look to see how everything is operating. I had to fix a door glass on a 69 chevelle that seams very simular to what your dealing with, problum ended up being it had a right side regulator assembly on the left side door would not have figured it out had I not taken off the other panel and comparred. not saying thats whats wrong with yours but it could help to just compare the two.
Rich-L79 Dec 8th, 08, 7:55 PM Go here to see scans of the four pertinent pages from the '65 body manual. Only pay attention to the "37" style pictures and text.

Chuck Dec 8th, 08, 8:18 PM Thanks Rich. Thanks guys, this is an all original car so the issue must be alignment with the new rubber. I'll give it another whack this weekend.
