Alright after much consideration and decision making i've decided to cut my front Hotchkis springs. My question is do I need to get the low profile shocks I see listed for some applications? I'm going to cut half to full coil on the fronts to get the front end about 3/4" ~ 1" lower. I currently have KYB GR2 shocks up front. Anyone have any input on this?

Just don't cut too much off at once. When I was 17 I cut 1 coil off of my stock front springs on my 1971 chevelle wagon. The center subframe was sitting on the GROUND!!!!! I got another pair and only cut a little bit off at a time before I got it right. After about 1 year the springs were sagging and uneven.

PLEASE if you are going to do this CONSIDER roundy-round adjustable cans and short CHEAP h-d coils in front!!
I wish I had!!
BUT if you want to cut them, then cut them off the "closed" end 1st b/c they won't drop as much as off the "open" end.
I 1st clock cut to stock my MOOG 5536's at 488 pounds and then cut a full coil off of them and now my now BB 1st Gen. Camaro car has never sat lower in front, but it is stiff as a board and has by me good ground clearance!
I figure they are at 525 pounds now, BUT if I would have cut the top, "closed" end in instead, it wouldn't have dropped quite so much!

I cut the fronts on mine, about 2/3 coil. It lowered the car about 1/2 in. I have successfully done this on other cars.
Suggestions:
Measure the ride height to the wheel openings before you start the job.
Cut a half or no more than 2/3 coil and reassemble it and check it.
Its slow, but the best way to get where you want.

Nothing wrong with cutting springs. When I had a small block I cut about 3/4 of a coil off, lowered it 2.5 inches. Just use a cutoff wheel.

Don't think you can cut springs on the rear, the ends of the spring are smaller diameter than the body... Also turns out i'm getting drop spindles for christmas so no need to cut!!! WOOHOO!!!

I am running cut rear springs on my camino. Derek69ss let me in on this tip. As long as you dont cut too much you can do it no problems. I cut about a coil off. The top spring perch is build in with an angle that matches a compressed spring perfectly. If you rotate the spring around so the angles match up, set the weight down, its not going anywhere! :noway:

And you can install a 3/8" bolt and nut where the spring bottom end finally locate's at to hold it there if you want once you locate it up top.
