I have a temperature gage on a 69 SS396 that isn't working. I have juice at the sending unit and at the back of the guage. Anything I've missed, aside from the gage? How do you test the gage itself? Thanks a lot in advance.

Austin,
Take a "C" cell flashlight battery and connect the + positive side to the 12 volt conecting pin of the gauge using a jumper wire.(This would be where the pink wire of the original connector would attach). Then with another jumper wire attach the - negative side of the battery to the signal terminal of the gauge (original location of the green wire). The gauge should start moving slowly up the scale. NOTE: Do not let the gauge bury itself at the top of the scale as this could harm the gauge.
This test will only let you know if the gauge will function. It will not let you know if it is properly calibrated. Calibration is only as good as the sending unit you have. As the sending units can vary as much as 15 degrees right out of the box.
If your gauge needs repaired check out American Classis Restoration at (508)278-0020
They did a great job restoring my complete cluster.

Thanks Brian, I tried the battery test and I got no movement. The gauge needle is motionless, dangling down at the 'H'. I've not seen it jump or move with any test. I'll check into your gauge resto connection. I appreciate the help.
Nice car!
