:thumbsup:Out of all the commercial (BP,EXXON,CITCO,TEXACO or others etc) ,as stations out there, what are the opinions on which one has the best for the "old school motors" offering performance, keeping the fuel system, chambers clean, and "true octane"ratings?

I normally use BP(with good success),But the way prices have been I've been watching that instead. But I did'nt know if there was one better than BP.

It depends on which day. The gas is all the same until they add their additives at the terminals.

I have always used the Mobil station. Worked well for my previous cars and seems to be working well with the new motor.

i think turkey Hill is a Pennsylvania thing. They have a line of drinks and real good ice cream, also some gas stations..

Sunoco works best for me.

I hauled gas out of the port of Albany N.Y. for years. I can say with confidence that Mobil and Sunoco do blend their gas more consistantly than the budget gas wholesalers. I really believe that the best way to get good gas is get it from a station that turns over alot of product. Gas sitting for months is more apt to loose octane and collect moisture. I've delivered to stations that had 4-5" of water in the bottom of their tanks. And, without starting a war, some of the "new" station owners, if you get my drift, could care less if you make it home. JMHO.

Nascar announcers pronounce it su-no-co.

Nascar announcers pronounce it su-no-co.

So that must mean that it's properly pronounced sun-o-co ... :D

It is actually Sun Oil Company, therefore Sun-o-co.

I agree. Plus it is an American company.

GREAT POINT,SUNOCO & HESS DONT USE ARAB OIL UNLIKE EXON/MOBILE ETC..

Funny thinG too, approx yr ago i changed frrom Mobil to sunoco to stop filling the arabs pockets and i got a nice surprise.

For fun i always check the fuel mileage for my car and it inc 1.5-2mpg in mixed driving with the 1st Sunoco fillup and has stayed there since with nothing being done to the car at all.

Maybe more BTU's in the Sunoco fuel when burnt giving motor little more umph so i can stay out of the gas a little more.

Shell is a Tier One gas (recommended by GM, BMW,etc.) I have never gotten a bad tank full from them but have gotten one from Hess and from BP (which is more dependent on the particular station). I agree with Larry, look for high turnover.

I believs Shell also get's their oil from the Arabs too so put your $ in Suncoco/Hess that i know for sure don't use Arab oil.

Bad gas is usually a fuel terminal/delivery truck/and or gas station issue but not generally a refinery issue.

In my part of the country only BP still pumps 93 Octane (it's on their pumps anyway) Everyone else has gone the 87-89-91 route....

BP is also a top-tier gasoline, which is what you should really look for. Mobil is NOT top-tier, and will leave more deposits behind. Not sure on all the others.

Use only BP, never had any issues. The Chevelle is tuned to work on 89, but I always give it 93.

I've used Chevron for many years with no problems ever. Also a tier one supplier to the big three.
