ok... so... my 70 chevelles column is pretty messed up... and I am having trouble finding a column for not too much...
I did find a respectable person with a monte carlo steering column, and I was wondering if they were compatible.
chevelle / monte carlo steering columns???

A column from a 69 - 72 Chevelle as well as a 70 - 72 Monte are the same. Also if youcan find a tilt out of a Camaro/Firebird 70 - 81 you can make it work by removing the firewall plate that is spot welded to it and replacing it with the one off of the Chevelle/Monte column. The wiring for the column will plug right in. Some other columns may work but not sure of which ones.
Good Luck

Impalas also used the same column. They just didn't use the intermediate shaft. I put a '69 Impala tilt in my '69 Chevelle.
From what I recall, there is also a difference in the electrical ignition switch from a tilt and a non tilt column so try and get the switch with the column.

On the GM function locking columns (starting in 1969), the switches for a tilt columns are different than the standard (non-adjustable) column switches. One switch works by a pushing motion from the ignition rod on the column, the other works by a pulling motion. As long as you have the correct switch on your column, either switch will connect to the wiring harness in your car.

Yes, just make sure you use the Monte's electric starter switch mounted on the column.
