: Canada post
gusszgs Dec 3rd, 08, 3:03 PM Anyone on here know how one can obtain a rural route delivery for Canada Post? Just wondering how this is done....I understand that it's contracted out but how do you apply for the contract or do you bid? Any info would be great. Thanks
You bid on the contract, I think they are 2-3 years in length. My uncle did it for a few years and the worst part was having to rebid and maybe lose out. A little risky with the fuel prices all over the map in the last year as well. Early mornings but you can be done by early afternoon depending on the route.

go to this link, scroll down near the very bottom, it is called RSMC (Rural and Suburban Mail Contractors), scroll down and it shows every city and town that is looking for drivers. At that page, it has descriptions of the route, and usually links on how to apply.
steve_sutherland Dec 3rd, 08, 3:45 PM coincidentally, my mom is acting post master right now at the post office in my town, so she knows the general stuff and places where to go, and if your in southern ontario she knows who to talk to. If not, check that out and if you have any questionsobviously dont hesitate to ask

Steve, went to the link you provided but it only seems to have postings for the province of Alberta.
By the way, I'm in the Barrie area.
steve_sutherland Dec 3rd, 08, 5:37 PM oh okay, on that link there, it has one separate link for alberta, if you look to the right of that there is one that says all career oppurtunities, click on that, and then sort of browse around you should be able to find something that your looking for.
Oh also, My mom just tried to go in to check postings on her access and it has not been updated- there is PSAC strike on right now at Canada Post which are the inside administrative workers, so it might be a challenge to get up to date information because there may not be new postings.

An update on that, route drivers are now a part of CUPW (Canadian Union of Postal Workers) and are now employess of Canada Post. They used to be contractors that had to bid, but not anymore. The routes are set as well as fees, and some of the drivers in my moms office had been getting supplements when the gas prices were really high. Things have apparently changed a lot in the last few years.

definitely have to agree with you there
3-400 mil will be cheap compared to what a coalition will cost the economy!
speedracer77 Dec 6th, 08, 4:47 PM Hmm..... Government elected by the people, or one selected by the government it's self.
Doesn't the government get to choose it's own members in dictatorship?
If you can't win an election, just ignore the results and set up whatever government you want I guess.
