: Selling on ebay can be a real pain sometimes
red Chevelle SS Dec 2nd, 08, 10:31 PM Last week I sold a pair of 454 1971 exhaust manifolds on ebay. I sent the buyer the invoice. Two days passed and on the 3rd day I sent another. No response, now the 4th I sent him an email, he just replied back that he had his paypal act hacked and that he would send a money order but was in no hurry for the manifolds and also did not have my address which was BS because it was on the invoice and questioned why he did not contact me in lieu of me coming to him. I told him if he could not send the Money Order in the mail tomorrow I would sell them again.
Okay ,I feel better I had to vent.
jfkheat Dec 2nd, 08, 10:42 PM The bad thing is that he can leave bad feedback for you and you can't for him.

str8tpiperoar Dec 2nd, 08, 11:12 PM Yeah ebay pretty much sucks now...
Another new policy...if sellers have received less than a certain number of positive feedback within the last 12 month their pay pal payments are put on hold untill 21 days or positive feedback for the item shows
bri2203 Dec 2nd, 08, 11:21 PM Ebay has the seller by the balls....
I am in the same boat as you.....as soon as a similar website opens, I wil be transfering.
***************Paypal and Ebay
Chris R Dec 3rd, 08, 4:47 AM Its not even worth waisting time with Flea Pay anymore. You have just as good of luck without all the hassle selling on Craigslist.
67-468 Dec 3rd, 08, 5:32 AM You can file a non payment claim.
red Chevelle SS Dec 3rd, 08, 2:20 PM Ebay says 8 days. I guess I am different than this buyer (no hurry to get it comment) when I buy something ebay, craigs where ever I want it as fast as I can get it. I understand snail mail but but let the seller know you are sending a money order he had not even attempted to contact me which really pissed me off:angry:
Andy69 Dec 3rd, 08, 2:33 PM ebay is trying their best to chase away the small sellers.
webfoot Dec 3rd, 08, 2:46 PM Do you have payment terms in your auction details?
gary salsman Dec 3rd, 08, 3:00 PM I hate it when the buyers don't contact you. It used to be buyers and sellers were supposed to contact each other within three days. I used to spend a lot of time emailing and sending invoices trying to get paid. Now, I sent an invoice when the auction ends, another after 3 days. After 1 week, if I haven't heard from the buyer, or received any payment, I file a non-paying bidder report. If you are going to get paid, I guarantee you will hear from him. After seven more days, I file for my fees back and relist.
It only takes a few minutes of my time to do this. Granted, it's a PIA because you need to wait 2 weeks for the process, but it is painless. You can't leave negative feedback for buyers, but if all sellers go thru the process, buyers get black marks, 3 and you're gone.
cessnarob Dec 3rd, 08, 3:01 PM I sold an Idealarc 250 stick welder awhile back..had in my discription local pick-up only no shipping as it was to big for me to load by myself and needed to be picked up with in 7 days..yeah right..some jerk won the bid and paid in full as soon as auction ended via paypal..he was from texas..took hin 2 months to come get it..I done sat it out outside to get it out of my way..now days if I say pick-up in seven days..I mean it..I'll resale it or throw it in trash!!
StorminNorm Mar 22nd, 10, 2:59 PM I sold a steering wheel, horn ring, cap and miscellaneous horn components for $124. Buyer complained the cap was broken but would not elaborate what was broken. Buyer complains the wheel was painted black. I had no idea. He said he doesnt have a digital camera to show me proof. Buyer is a professional restorer so he claims but asked not a single question when he outbid a half dozen other bidders.
I refunded him $40 and told him to keep the horn cap. Now he wants more. I may ask him to send me back everything, refund hom the whole thing less his shipping, set the package on fire, take a sledge hammer to it then send it back to him gift wrapped in a Tiffany box.
Its not the money. Its the principal of it.
Bill's 74 Mar 22nd, 10, 3:10 PM I have sold a bunch of stuff, but its getting to the point that its not worth doing. I will not do much with the low dollar items now, and only limited with higher priced items. Also, if I don't want to ship something I will put an unrealistic reserve and wait until I get offers. There was a time that I would not do 'side deals', but now.....

ChaosEnvy Mar 22nd, 10, 3:35 PM At least the winner of the $29,100 B5 SRT8 Challenger ended up getting the car. ;)
I've always been a buyer on Ebay and have never had any issues.

Andy69 Mar 22nd, 10, 4:21 PM I think I'm done selling on Ebay. Too much hassle for not enough $$$. It would be different if I were making $50 or $100 on every sale, but seems lately it's more like $10, which just isn't worth it.
BillsCamino Mar 22nd, 10, 5:38 PM Hi Joel!! How's your Chevelle running?? Got it ready for another cruise season?
Jack Armstrong Mar 23rd, 10, 12:47 PM Ebay rules & regs, as set today,
bring out the very worst
in the sort of abusive buyers
JC himself couldn't please.
If you had 1000 positive feedbacks,
and you then encountered
only 3 of these sociopathic slanderous lying
low-life mutant demonic slime-ball cretins...
POOF!! Account closed!!
Three-tenths of 1 percent
trumps your stellar record.
classicfan1 Mar 23rd, 10, 1:20 PM ebay is certainly a BIG pain in the ass nowadays. It used to be, when you listed something that you would not ship USPS, you could just select "other" and leave it at that. Then get the cost if the item sells.
NOW, I must WASTE my time and money packing, weighing, and pricing some peice of junk that may or may not sell!
Oh, and they raised their insertion fees AGAIN! From .35 to .55!
Plus, you get hit with paypal fees and ebay doesn't allow deals that aren't through paypal. So, yea, they got the sellers by the balls.
SO, now, when ever I have something to sell, I try everything else and leave eBay as a last resort.
