Hi,
I just swapped a 72 350 into a 64 replacing the 283. I'm not getting any spark out of the
coil it seems. I've changed coils with a good one and still no spark. I'm using he starter and silenoid of the 72. The car does crank and is getting fuel.

Any ideas on what to check?

What type of distributor are you using? are you getting power to the distributor?

were you running points on the 283 and now an hei on the 350?

Did you swap out the resistor type power wire used for points dist. with a non-resistor wire to the hei if you did?

Is the HEI new, rebuilt, dont know?

It's a stock points distributor that was in the 350. I'm not getting anything from the coil.

With the ignition switch on and the points closed is there any current going to the coil (+) side? Anything coming out of the coil (-) side? If not then don't expect anything to come out of the coil. The other thing to check, if you have current to the coil and nothing coming out, is the condenser. When they go belly up you won't be able to start the engine either.Good luck.
