bpwells Dec 22nd, 01, 1:44 PM In cold and hot weather after our 69 307 has been running awhile (10 - 15 minutes) and then shut off, it will not start right up again without pouring gas in the carb or spraying starter fluid in. It is not a problem if we wait an hour or more and then start it. Any ideas? It cranks just fine. Brian Randy Mosier Dec 22nd, 01, 6:55 PM Accellerator pump is going bad or is already gone. Check it before removing the carb to see it you have any fuel squirting when you work the throttle (ENGINE OFF!!) by hand. If it's got a good pump squirt, we can move on to other things to check for, but I think you'll be rebuilding the carb. cjlandry Dec 22nd, 01, 10:16 PM Please, whatever you do, don't spray any more starting fluid into the poor beast! That stuff is bad for an engine. When you say it won't start, is it that it won't turn over at all, turns over sluggishly, turns over just fine but won't start, or maybe another scenario? edit: Oops, I didn't pay close enough attention to the whole post. You did say "It cranks just fine." I'd say it's fuel related. I once had a pickup with an electric fuel pump that had no pressure regulation. It would overpressure and flood the engine after running a short while. It's just a crutch. Turned out to be bad electric fuel pump and carb needed to be rebuilt.
