The most important tip that I can give you is to take your time…
· Make sure that you have the room to work on & remove the body.
(the last thing you want to do is drop the body on the floor)
· Have plenty of jack stands to support the body and frame.
· Have a good floor jack handy to lift the body off the frame, or some kind
of A-frame rig to lift the body off the frame. The best way that I found was
to use an auto body rotisserie with adjustable jacks, the one I have makes the removal of the body very easy.
· Disassemble the car body completely. The lighter the body the easer it will be to manage when it is in the air
· A rotisserie is the way to go if you want to professionally restore the underbody of your car,
However, the body can be supported simply with 2X4’s and some jack stands,
but than you will be on your back when restoring the underbody.

Plan out the project very carefully to make sure that you have enough equiment to remove the body. You do not want to run out of jack stands or blocks wile you are half way in to removing the body.

3 people, an engine hoist with an engine tilter tool attached to the outer rear seat belt attach points. Also note the brace welded into the door jambs.

I lifted the body of the Elky up with a pair of come-a-longs, and an engine hoist.

The garage door header at my house is plenty strong enough to support a couple hundred pounds----so that is what I used for the front. Bolted hooks to the firewall fender mounting point.
Engine hoist for the rear---but I was able to use tailgate mounts for lifting.

Once everything is out of the body---it is pretty light. I lifted the rear of the body and the cart it was attatched to off the trailer after it was sandblasted. Hadda get another warm blooded body to help lift the front from the trailer. Was just too damn lazy to get the ramps outta the trailer.

I put the body on a donor frame for floor welding----along with the engine and trans, as floor modifications were necessary for the TKO. All of the body mount cagenuts were replaced while on the donor frame. Then the body was put back on the original frame for the rest of the body work
