This column will fit all 1969-1972 Chevelle, El Camino and Monte Carlo 70-72. Hope this helps

It'll even fit a 78 Camaro!
How do I know? Because several years ago when we cloned a 71 SS454 for my son, we used a tilt column out of a 78 Z28 in his 71 Chevelle.
And as best as I can determine, Mid-70s A-body columns will also interchange.

GM used the same column right up to 1978. Some even up to 1979.

One of the MOST SIGNIFICANT differences between the 78-earlier and 79-later columns is the shaft coupling where it connects to the intermediate shaft connection. The 78 shaft had splines, the 79 shaft was smooth with 2 flats.

Correct. You can always tell by looking near the tilt lever. They were smooth until they changed them with that small raised area in the casting near the lever. Like they did right through into the 1990's.

But I do know of a 1979 unrestored Z/28 that has the smooth column with a splined steering shaft.
