I know several people have said they are running the GM valley shield with their Performer RPM intake.

How are you dealing with the "tabs" that hold the valley shield in place? The GM manifold casting has clearance where the tabs are. The Performer doesn't for 4 of the 6 tabs.

Did you knotch out the intake to create the needed clearance or remove the tabs?

Just notch the gasket so the tabs fit in the notches. The compressed gasket is thicker than the tabs.

Sounds good! That's what I'll do.

Thanks!

make sure you notch the tabs as you might suck the intake charge with oil if you don,t. don't ask how i found that out. mike

Chris,

My new Performer RPM definately would not fit properly without notching the intake gaskets to clear the tabs on the valley shield. Maybe your gaskets had clearance in that area or different casting?

jeff im glad i read this post i will have to keep this in mind for the next big block build up.when i put it back together in oct i put the tabs over the intake gasket kinda held it down in few places.but be for that had the gasket on top of the tabs still had no issues.learn something new every day
