Hey guys, I got a dilemma, should I trade my super clean , 70K milage '99 Super Sport Camaro plus $3000.00 for my buddie's '71 Heavy Chevy and his '27 T Roadster ? My Camaro has leather interior, $2500 Stereo, aftermarket intake lid, ported mass, ported TB , BMR Subframe connectors and strut tower brace, and runs 8.20's in the 1/8th. His '71 is an original Arlington plant Heavy Chevy with a '72 350, Muncie 4-speed , factory air car (not working/no compressor), manual Disk front, 10 bolt rear, still has fair shape white stripe door panels, just put in new front floor pans, will have new Cranberry Red paint , and has build sheet . The '27 T Roadster is all steel "Rat rod" with a tri-carbed 350/powerglide on a square tube frame and suicide front end .

I love my Camaro , but usually drive my El Camino cause I love the ride of an A-Body and also the attention it gets. I think I would be coming out on the good end of the deal even though I will have to put a headliner in the Chevelle along with carpet and eventually get the front bench and back seats reupholstered. Take a look and let me know what you guys think !

The chevelle will be worth more down the road than the 99 camaro. I'd take the deal

DITTO!! Sell the 27 and finish the Chevelle right and you will have a cool vehicle that will steadily go up in value!!

I sold my '98 RamAir Trans Am after 6.5 years and 60k and still regret it. That car did EVERYTHING well. I say keep the Camaro SS and pick up a Chevelle when you can.

I say keep the Camaro SS and pick up a Chevelle when you can.I agree.I have a 2000 SS.Its a great car and if I have to travel a long distance its way up there on the list of what I have to choose from. But when my Chevelle is running again its what I will be taking to "Bob's",not the SS.Oh sure the SS has its own place, and even more so with GM in the trouble its in, but its just another new car to most.Just my .02.

Let me clarify that I don't NEED the Camaro per say ( I have 3 other running cars and I usually drive my '72 Elky daily). He has all of the trim for the Chevelle and the Muncie is freshly rebuilt . The guy doing the paint job has done some very nice jobs in the past, but I don't expect it to be perfect. The car has almost no body filler and no rust in the lower fenders or quarter panels !!! I think the trade would be good as the Camaro won't hold value like the Chevelle . I won't sell the '27 as it is too much fun to drive . I have a '71 Cheyenne that I am working on to sell and will use money from that to finish the interior of the Chevelle.

If I do this deal, I'll have an "A" Body from '69 ( SS Chevelle that needs full resto) , '70 ( SS Elky almost finished resto) , '71 ( this car ) and '72 ( my daily driver Elky) ! This is truly an addiction ! Thanks for the replies !

Well, I caved in and traded last night ! I have the original build sheet and it's an Arlington car delivered to Stovall Chevrolet in Burleson, Texas ! It shows an L65 350-2bbl , M20 4-speed , GS3 3.36 geared axle, AO1 tinted windows, C60 air , N40 power steering, PL2 14" B/Wall tires, YF3 Heavy Chevy , U63 AM radio AND U76 windshield antenna . The car is due to go to paint on Friday , so hopefully I can start re-assembly before Christmas :hurray: .

Congrats on the trade. Was the heavy chevy originally white?

Nope, it has always been code 75 75 , or Cranberry red top and bottom . It is in final primer right now and will be heading to paint on Friday. I can't wait to be able to drive it around !

Sounds like you did good to me. The SS is still falling in value while the Chevelle is going to inch up from here. If the bucket is built decent it will be worth some change too.

Exactly why I did the trade. The market value will fall greatly on the last series of Camaros as soon as the new Camaro comes out...if GM can stay in business until then !
