This gear has 2.75 turns lock to lock. This is the hard to find 4 mounting bolt pattern gear box. The casting number is 5691676 also known as the 76 box. It has flared ports and the splines are in great shape!

Steering boxes are a dime a dozen for our Chevelles ... certainly no need to rush with one on ebay.
Boxes from any 1964-1972 A-body will work, as will a box from a mid-80s G-body and the 1991-1996 B-body (with some cheap adaptors from Lee Engineering in California and a new rag joint), and 1992-1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee (same issues at the B-body box) to name a few ... the 4 mounting bolt pattern is nothing special as the Chevelle only uses three bolts.
The power steering boxes on our cars are plentiful, no need to rush.

The rush was for an $89 rebuilt box...but I lost it anyway. Ended up selling for $128. For that price I might as well get mine rebuilt from a guy in Cali who said he'd take mine and rebuild it along with the pump for $245. At least then I'd have the original ps gear installed. :hurray:
