Wondering what is the jet size that you guys are running on an 850 dp with dogleg boosters.

Stock is 80 square, I found the best results with 76s in front with a 095 PV, and 81s in back with a 045PV. #38 squirters fore and aft with an orange cam fore and a blue pump cam in back. Not track results, just streetability. Every combo will require slightly different settings, but 80 square ( all four jets) is usually the stock config.

I am running 80/82 with 3.5 PVs. Its on a 468 with a single plane and a 2" open spacer.

How many extra jet sizes are usually required when using an open spacer?

The cars runs fine but the plugs are always black! Have been trying to get a nice tan shade but then she slows down

Novaman, what vaccum does it pull at idle?

Two preliminary things, floats set correctly? Secondary butterflys set so that transfer slot is *just* visible from underneath?

427L88, she pulls only 7" at 1100rpm in neutral and drops to 5" in gear.

Floats are set. Fuel is at the sight plug level.

Primary and secondary transfer slots are exposed 0.050" and 0.040" respectively.

The ignition advance is locked out at 38deg. Have noticed an improvement in idle quality and throttle response with this mod. Previously, the plugs used to get fouled very often.
Can having no advance curve cause mixture burn problems at certain rpms?

Are you sure its fuel and not oil blackening the plugs? Also, I'm wondering ( don't know) whether the lock out deal is going to cause rich looking plugs regardless of how the carb is setup.

If it has the stock all around 6.5 PV that holley seems to put in all their carbs and your getting 5" in gear, then its open at idle, causing excessively rich conditions, and possibly open at cruise. I'd stick a 2.5 or so in there. As for jetting, reading plugs will get you close, but the only way to fine tune is on a dyno or at a track.

427L88, I am sure its fuel on the plugs and not oil. The soot is somewhat dry....and smells like fuel.

AllGoNoShow, I have 3.5 PVs both front and rear.

Will revert to a regular timing advance curve and then check.

Thanks guys.
