Hello,
I've got a 70 Chevelle with a 350/TH350 and an open diff 2.73 rear. It's my weekend driver and my final goal is to install the 402 I have infront of the TCI Streetfighter Th350 and back it up with a posi rear end. I'm aiming for 450hp and similar torque and wanting to make it more of a not-too-radical street car with the occasional strip pass. My 350 has the Edelbrock Performer package with 310hp and 378 ft/lbs., while the tranny currently has a Sizzler torque converter (about 1000rpm stall total) which isn't much better that stock. For the rear end, I've been war-gaming the costs of revamping my current 10 bolt with new inards or just buying a whole new unit. Some guys I'vs spoke to said that either method will cost nearly the same, so I'm leaning toward a new unit. Does anyone have any vendor recommendations for a new posi diff? I would like to keep it all GM, so I'm thinking a 12 bolt, with Eaton posi and a 3.42, 3.55, or 3.73 rear gear. If any one has any suggestions or experience as to a supplier they would recommend I would appreciate it. Thanks very much.
