this was sent to me a couple days ago and the first thing I noticed was 4 new tires in the trunk and window sticker that said 1944. those tires were worth a lot of money in 42-44, too bad they got lost in the car!

Thanks for posting that great old car!
My grandpa's brother, we called "Uncle Fuller" still had one, though no where near as nice, in the early 60's. It was an ugly faded green with surface rust showing through the thin paint!
He lived Near Pilot Knob Mo.
He bought it with about 10,000 miles on it in St Louis Mo. in 1942 and drove it on his Fuller Brush Route until 1963. Never ever let him down on the road.
He kept using it because he said it had a built in Motel room in the back!:D He carried a serno and camped in waysides and parks to save the cost of the motel for which he still got paid for.
The car sat for about 5 years after he retired it. A neighbor bought it and used it to haul hay and feed for his cattle and hogs.

No, the 40 Dodge was 13 years old at the time.
Before that I had a 37 Plymouth that was built the year I was born. :D

Back around 1980, I was working during the summers up in southern Maine. I cut grass for a few of the elderly people, and worked on my uncle's dairy farm baling hay. One of my customers had her husband's 1946 Chevy 4dr sedan in the garage, still as clean as the day it was sold. The pastor at the church drove it after church on nice days to keep it lubed up. My uncle used to drool over that car all the time. After she passed away, the pastor did get the car.
