I was just wondering what you guys thought of the gto's. I'm looking at an '05, red with black interior, 6.0, 6 speed manual. The lot it's on has it tagged for 20k. It has 28k miles on it. As much as the price, what do guys think of these and are there years that are better than others. I know they put 5.7's in some, but I'm not sure of the pro's and cons of either. Thanks for any help.

I like the car, it's basically a 4 seater vette. the 04 had the 5.7 and the 05-06 had the 6.0. 20k seems to be the asking for the 05-06 cars

Just sold my 05 GTO back in August. I had the 6.0 and the 6 speed. I put a CAI, Headers, Duals, 3.91 gears, Spec stage 4 clutch and a custom HPTuners tune on it. It went 12.60 @113 on street tires and still knocked of 25mpg on the highway. I bought mine with 31K miles for $18k last December. The price is a little high, I would think 16-18K would be fair. Check out the LS1GTO.com, probably someone selling an 05-06 that has all the mods done for less.

I agree with Tim, the price is high. A buddy of mine bought a 2006 last year with less than 10,000 miles and it had the Bobcat treatment from Royal Bobcat, putting out 445 hp, and he paid about 23k.

Really sharp car and very nice.

Thanks for the advice. I'm really looking for one that is stock. I'm not really into all the modifications. Mods generally equals having the balls ran off of it. But then again who says I'm going to have it more than a couple of years. Also I wouldn't know if the one I'm looking at is stock either. I'll check out the site. Thanks.

I really like those cars. Hey Tranny Smoke what high school did you go to North , West or South ? Just curious as I was raised in the fine city of Terre Haute and graduated from North HS in 1984 perhaps we crossed paths before ?

MOST TIMES IF THEY HAVE ADDED "upgrades"
they reflash the ecu(computer) with a handheld programer..
or if it was really worked over ls edit software..
a dealer ship(g.m.) can check the computers programing (ecu) and tell you if it's been changed from factory(reflashed)

I like them. Fast, understated, a true muscle car. You can do better than 20k on the price though,

There is a used car lot in Oshawa that has an '04 blue six speed GTO for sale but are playing their cards too close to their chest. They don't give a price. Check Kijiji Oshawa.

John, I have a special ordered 06 I would sell, it has the sports apperance package from the factory but not the SAP spoiler just the standard one(don't like the SAP spoiler). Has 18" wheels with Potenza tires; 6.0 LS2; 6sp Tremec; 400hp/400tq; Quicksilver with Blk/grey/silver suede leather interior; red guages and stitching. 6800 actual miles.
