Ok, so I didn't know exactly where to post this, so I hope I get feedback here! :) My name is Jessica and I am currently writing a book, and one of the cars in my book will be the 67 Chevelle SS. Here is the thing though, I want it to be like the one my father used to own over thirty years ago. He had one that had a hard top and a bench seat in the front instead of two separate seats. I would also like to know if that particular style came in standard instead of automatic. Basically everything you know about that exact car would be appreciated including everything under the hood, to the exhaust, to size of tires, to the dash pannel etc etc. Anything would be greatly appreciated! If you could, please email me at Jesray013@yahoo.com. I would ask my father, but it's been so long he doesn't remember much of the details- just the color, year, and that it was a hard top with a bench seat in front. Again, thank you guys sooo much!

I'm not sure xactly what you are asking, but there is a wealth of information here: http://www.chevellestuff.com/1967/index.htm And lots of pictures too. If you read through the various links you will find answers, lots of answers. And yes you could get a bench seat with a standard transmission if that is what you desired. In the 60's, you could actually go to the dealer and order a car with ALMOST any combination of options that you wanted. Another place to look: http://www.chevelles.net/links/Garage/1967/ Good luck with your book.

thank you sooo much! I'll be sure to check it all out! I was just needing to know stuff like what kind of engine it has, where everything in the engine is located, and what size tires, what kind of exhaust it has, to where the wiring is placed, to what different kinds of gages were on the dash, just everything there is to know about the car. Like I said on my first post, my dad used to have one, but it's been so long he's not going to remember any of the details about it. It's such a beautiful car . But again, thanks so much! I really do appreciate it!

If you post over in the Restoration Forum you may find someone near you with an "Restored" '67 that you could look over. You will find out that "car guys/gals" LOVE to show their car to people that are interested.

for the 1967 SS, they all came with 396 cubic inch engines from the factory. Bench seat would either be automatic, on the column, or a floor mounted 3-speed or 4-speed manual transmission...

"Standard" dash included a speedometer and a fuel guage and typical "idiot lights". An optional "in dash" guage package could be added, and included oil pressure, water temp and "Battery" (amp) guages...

Basically, the only differences in an SS (compared to a Malibu) would be the 396 engine (3 different Horsepower versions available), special badging and "black-out" paint treatment and the "SS" hood, with two simulated air intake grills... All other options were optional on Malibus and SuperSports... The 396 engine also required some Heavy Duty Pieces, like the "12-bolt" rearend (optional on Malibus though) and rear frame reinforcements, and special brakelines to clear certain components (not SS specific, but "396-specific)...

I agree, find a local car or pictures to look over and ask the owner questions... Stuff like wiring location, etc, can best be determined by looking at an actual example...
