Stoked!

I recently sold my later 60s sweptline pickup project and traded up for a beater 64 Malibu 2dr on a lein sale. It's ugly now, but also a local Fremont built SS coupe and overall is pretty straight and mostly rust free. It was poorly "hot rodded" with a crap 305, 4sp auto, and 80s Z28 wheels. Looks like it was parted out too - been picked over pretty good, so I'm in collection mode now getting it back together. Me and Craig are becoming good friends on his list.

I'm inspired by the 60s era strip blazer race cars as well as some 50s and 60s strip-ready cars. This car will end up a bit more of a sleeper I think with steelies, thin cheaters on the rear, poverty caps on front and a grouchy, whiny, high strung 283 (I'm looking for the base for that motor build now). I'm planning to put the paint (almond fawn) and interior (fawn) back to stock or close to it. Not sure about the trans yet - may keep the 700r4 in it now, or swap in a glide with an overdrive - I like to cruise longer distances and expect to drive this car all over the west. My gal and my daughter will cruise in it and drive it too, so looking forward to some family trips in it.

I'm looking to learn from the technical posts here on powerglides, overdrives, restoration techniques etc... a little education from the experts will be good.

I'll try to keep up with my rebuild with some posts too. Howdy.

Keep the overdrive, 700R4, for road driving.

Hello and welcome Dave. I wouldn't want a powerglide in a car that I would be driving all over the place. The overdrive trans is a good choice.

I appreciate the warm welcome! Thanks, all.

I'll be posting soon - much to learn about my car and how to make it perform at its best!
