may be trading my front 5.5 centerlines and radials for a set of 3.5 centerlines and bias runners for my 67. figure i can lose about 30 lbs here. the car only sees a few miles a year on the street. whats the down side to this? thanks Dave

they are too thin to take the abuse of riding over rough roads, from what i've seen.
And they arent DOT approved.
Put the centerlines back on when you want to drive around on the street, and swap to the skinny wheels before you put it on the trailer to tack it racing.

Hunt around and buy a pair of VW-sized 15" skinnies. The race tires are no good for street use, trust me! Been there, done that, many years ago. Flat after flat. A few extra pounds and some tread won't hurt anything!

The 3.5 are just too small.
A friend of mine just got rid of his M/T sportsman fronts that were mounted on 5.5 centerlines. The car was just too squirrely on the street with them. He bought some KELLY tire radials. They were sized a little smaller in the cross-section and handle and look great..

I have 3.5" w/VW tires on the front of mine.
Its not THAT bad...for a non daily driven street car.
