I am considering a zz383 for my 1966 chevelle and was wondering if anyone here has one. I know they are new, but worth asking anyhow.

The first ZZ383's ship to dealers in January. Great street engine, pulls like a big block.

What sort of manifold and carb combination would you recommend? I was thinking about using a victor jr with my holley street avenger 770 and a set of Dougs Tri-y headers. Would a performer RPM or performer manifold be a better choice? I am not so much interested in drag strip performance as I am in streetability.

I also have the oppourtunity right now to send out my stall converter to have it worked over. What would be a good combination for a street car running a 3.08 rearend, 275/50R17 tires and a switch pitch 400?

Thanks for your time.

If it were mine, I'd use a GM Vortec Eliminator single plane intake with a 750 Speed Demon carb. A 10 inch converter with about 2500 stall and maybe step the gear up to a 3.42-3.55.
The 3.08 gear will work, it's just a little long for the cam in the 383.
