So I'm about to put in a convertor that stalls at about 2400 and I'm in the market for a cooler. I still have the old condenser out from my a.c. and was wondering if that would work. Seems like it might overcool it. Any thoughts?

I wouldn't do it. I think you will have problems. Why not take it out and put a real trans cooler in its place.

I suspect you'll have a very high pressure drop, and the metals might not be compatible.
You might be fine, but I wouldn't do it.

Bob, why the pressure drop?
Pat, because I'm a cheap arse ;)
Thanks guys

Jeff,
The leftover compressor oil becomes acidic after sitting exposed to air,you don't want that to mix that with your trans fluid.

I am also a cheap "arse" I Tig welded aluminum pipe fittings to GM evaporator & used for engine oil cooler on Perkins diesel once, worked great. I see no problem using condenser for cooler either, it's already in the right spot. There is no material incompatibility problem. Just flush it out first. My 2 cents.

I guess I am a cheap Arse also, in the mid 70's I built a Vega with a 327 bored out 60 and it ran hot. I couldn't yet afford a new radiator and was using the Vega radiator and I ran the heater hoses through the condensor and then It ran right at 180. Didn't have a heater anyway as I just raced it, and to show how cheap I really am, I ran it like that for a year and a half until I sold it.
