Help! Can anyone please tell me what frames would work on a 69 Chevelle with a Big Block. I can get a mint 70 - 71 Skylark frame, but not sure if it is the same? If anyone can tell me what all will work, I would appreciate it. Thanks

all 68-72 A-body frames are the same. (chevelle, lemans, cutlass, skylark) Just make sure if the body is gone already that it's a two door frame !! A four door frame will not work

There should be a part number on the driver's side frame rail about 12-inches from the end of the frame just behind the rear wheels. If the frame is clean, the numbers should be easy to read on the side of the frame rail. Google the frame numbers and that should tell you if the frame is from a 2dr or 4dr A-body car.

A 1968 frame has an extra metal V shaped guard under the front crossmember.
A friend of mine used a 69 GTO convert frame for his 1971 Chevelle convert and he pointed out a difference to me. The 69 GTO frame used a bracket to attach the disc brake prop valve to the frame. His 71 chevelle did not and so on the GTO frame, it is configured differently in this area and he had to use a spacer behind the rearmost bolt for the prop valve.
This is not difficult to do.
You need to look at the frame right at the prop valve on your car and on the Skylark.
I'm still researching this, but I'm thinking that it's possible the BOP (Buick, Olds and Pontiac) cars used this prop valve bracket and Chevrolet did not (in 68-69-70?).
I did remove a prop valve from a 71 or 72 Chevelle in a wrecking yard a while back and it had this bracket.
My friend who is really into 71-72 chevelles tells me that this bracket is not used on the 71-72 Chevelles, but I know it came off one.
I know it was not used on the 68-69 Chevelle.
Maybe we can get some more input from 70-72 Chevelle and BOP car owners.
fwiw, I see that they do reproduce this prop valve bracket now. My buddy swears it was not used on the 71-72 Chevelle. So why are the aftermarket guys advertising it as such???
