I have a July built car with original engine and yes it is a 323 block.

This block uses the spin on oil filter, the first 396 block to do so. Colvin`s book "Chevrolet by the numbers" list it as highly unlikely to have been used in 67 models.

There is at least one documented Camaro that has the 323 block. The block was cast on June 8, 1967 and installed in a late 67 Camaro.

There are no known documented Chevelles with the 323 block.

Check www.mortec.com, I think they have casting decodes for all the blocks/heads and where they were used.

Forum note - post your question only once, not multiple times like you did.

Good luck!

According to Colvin's book, there is a documented 1967 Camaro with a
June 7, 1967, 323 block casting date.

It also states there are no other documented models in 67 with a 323 block.

Colvin's book is several years old. There may be new info.

Is the car in question an L-78?

as an aside.. You don't have to POST in multiple forums.. You have this question in TAG TEAM where it should be.. this forum is not for decoding.

also, being new.. You might want to Tell us WHO you are.. it's okay.. No witness Protection program here ;)

Possible - it's possible I supppose but I've not heard of one. Block was released in early June of 1967 for the 1968 production year. As noted some late Camaros received the block but unless the Chevelle is a June or July car, I'd say definately not.

T0630ED, and to further make things interesting, this block was machined for a canister filter.

My 323 block stamping is T0630EH, also machined for canister. Car was built 3rd week of July in Fremont CA.

The 215 heads have the boss for the temp sending unit, but is not drilled. in '68 they moved the sender to the heads.

All date codes coincide with the car and engine build date.

Looks like our engines were built on the same day! Pretty neat. Just out of curiosity, what is the casting date on your block?

I will try to find where I have it written down, kinda hard to see it when it's in the car. I recall it was early June (F code).

I would bet it is the same as yours or very close to it.

I agree, it is very hard to make out in the car.
