When I move my heat and vent levers left, to the off position, they glide back to half way on. It seems to me the wire inside the cable is sticky...do the entire cables need replacing or is there another way? Thanks for any assist!

If this is for a Non A/C car, the cables are held in place by small clamps on various points on the heater box. it's possible one or more of them loosened up and the cable is moving freely instead of being held in place. The other possibility is that the cable housing has cracked or snapped causing it to bind up or bend where it's not suppose to. You can see the cables if you have a flashlight. Just peak up under the dash from the passenger side. Each cable is secured to the top of the heater box.

Tom, thanks so much. My car has factory a/c but it was disconnected before I bought it. I did look with a flashlight and I don't think it's the 'freely' moving issue, if anything, I could see the wire going into a cable & it looks all gooped up. Perhaps there is a crack in the cable and they did get bent where they weren't supposed to. If they're bent, do I locate & rebend? What to do about the goop I see? New cables? Being a girl with no guy around to teach/help me I really need all the "restoration repair tips for dummy's" I can get. Thank you, in advance, guys.
