I've got a '64 Chevelle Malibu with a disassembled 396 and old crate motor/Trans combo less the actual motor, all I've got is the trans (old 350 motor is now gone to make room for the 396 BB). The trans is somewhat new and only has about 30K miles on it. I want to do this right and use the best combo with the new 396. I've got most everything figured out except for what type of rocker arms and rest of valve train really (roller?) etc. to use and what type of rear end. It was a stock inline 6 with a powerglide in it I think, so the rear-end seems like it should be a bit beefier than what I've got. It might be a 373, I'm not sure. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience putting a 9" ford rear end or something like this in a '64+ Chevelle... Any pre-fabbed performance rear-end suggestions would be great.
