I mock my head to check valve to piston and I have a very tight fit between the rocker and spring. The problem lies when the end of the spring overlap the coil of the spring. Some have a hard time getting over the stud and will not fit until seated. How do you provide the clearance of atleast .040. I was thinking about grinding under the rocker to provide the neccessary clearance or rotate the spring until the end of the springs is facing the exhaust side if the engine.
BTW: The spring are the upgraded Spring package from AFR with 1.550 OD

Deeboo,
You can't just turn the spring as the springs will rotate when the engine is running.
If the rocker is hitting you will need to clearance it.
I usually do it in a mill but you can grind it.
Go slow & don't take any more material than necessary. try to make it curved to follow the retainer or spring don't just grind straight across.
Polish it to take all the grinding lines out when you are done & keep a small radius at the bottom of where you finish your clearancing (the curved edge that ends up closest to the spring or retainer)

After looking at the paperwork that cam with the Crane Energizer they are for spring with a maximum diameter of 1.500, well my AFR 195 upgraded springs are 1.550. Too bad I had already grinded on them before I read the direction or I would have sold them and just bought the Comp Cam Pro Magnum Roller Rocker. Hopefully they would have cleared the 1.550. Maybe I can still get rid of them on Ebay and take a little loss and buy the pro magnum. redface.gif
Do anyone has the maximum diameter for the Pro Magnum or will they clear a 1.550 spring?

Lemme know if you go Pro magnum. I want some, but I cant seem to find a company that will split a set for 8 1.6's and 8 1.5's.

MaTt Since I finished clearancing all the Crane Energizer Rocker I decided to use them. It took a lot of grinding then againg I was using dremel w/ sanding disc so what shall I expect. I had to go back and redo some on the retainer clearance which was hitting. I have learned so much and I would like to take this time to thank all for your valuable knowledge...
Once again thanks.
