: modern windshield wiper arms?

Hey havent ever seen anyone talk about something as mundane as wiper arms but as we all know they are VERY important if you get stuck out in a storm. DSE sells a kit using the newer style gm wiper motor but Ive yet to see modern style wiper arms. I was wondering if anyone out there knows of directly swappable arms or if there is some type of kit to upgrade. The stock style arms just dont accept a nice wiper blade and even when all tuned up tend to be noisy and chatter across the windshield. Hopefully there are some options out there to take care of it. Thanks

Where's the info on the DSE kit?

Yeah I seldom see anything about upgrading wipers. I bought a rebuilt factory style motor that I'll be using. My original may even still be good, not sure. So I'll likely stick with factory stuff for a while, depending on how much I drive and how far, but I'll be watching here to see if anyone has done any upgrades I may consider later.

Question is: where do I get blades for mine?

heres the wiper MOTOR
http://www.detroitspeed.com/productpages/indproduct/electricalprod/chevelle_wiper_kit_prod.htm

Its based off of a late model gm intermittent wiper motor and uses an aluminum adapter plate to bolt to the car.

Im wondering if there are any wiper arm/blades off a newer car that will mount up to the early style wiper shafts. Obviously youd have to deal with them more than likely being black but I dont mind that in the least just need to know if there is an application that is the right size and has the correct spline.

If you're near a late model Pick-your-Part, just take a stock arm and compare it to some later model arms for the right spline count and length then put some new blades on them.

I think the biggest thing you will run into is that later windshields are taller/longer and the length of later wiper arms will be correspondingly longer.

You can always work with that by using a shorter wiper blade.

VERY old thread to dig up, but I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with retrofitting new arms onto the older bases. I'm tired of buying replacements just to pull out the rubber blade itself. I want to just unhook the whole blade assembly and snap on a new one.

I'd like to know this now too :) sorry to bring back a dead thread....

I just replaced my wipers last weekend...takes less than a minute per side to squeeze the clip, slide the blade out, and slide the new one in.

Or am I missing something?

NAPA has complete replacement blades, they are even silver. They call it the "Classic" line.

Me too!! Anyone know where to get 15" Trico type replacement blades for a 66? Can't seem to find them anywhere.

Could also use some 12" ones for my Land Cruiser too. All I seem to find at local auto-parts places are Anco and other stuff for late models.

Digging up the dead again...
Can new style blade arms be used if the one-way washer that holds the wiper arm on is cut off the wiper arm post? I don't know if that makes any sense, but it's the only way I can describe it.
