Im going to go with these heads: http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=partdetail.asp∂=TFS%2D30400001&N=120+4294925232+4294922130+303438

And im not positive which fel-pro gasket i need yet, but according to that high performance article the "thin rubber one" would allow me to get close to, if not 9.5:1 compression ratio the cam wants.

The only question is, do i need bigger valve springs, there are options on there, can someone tell me if the ones on there now are equivelent to the edelbrock springs on my current head? The current springs are 1.265" OD and have a recomended 1.7" installed height.

And which "thin rubber" felpro gasket is the one i need, my dad cautioned me that too thin could cause issues with the valve clearance, so its best for one of hte guys who knows what he is talking about here to tell me which size smile.gif

Chad, that link isn't right. It leads to some race guages.

Chirp,

If these are aluminum heads, and I imagine that they are, be sure to use a composition head gasket. These are generally about .040" to .045" compressed thickness, but they are the best way to go when using aluminum heads on a cast iron block. Be sure to use good quality head bolts and clean/prep all of the threads.

Fel-Pro 1094. Lots are using them with Vortec heads. They work with aluminum, too. Shouldn't cause any valve/piston clearance problems. Can't help with the springs as the link doesn't work.

BTW, if you click on the "preview post" button, you can test the link.

i read an article, and they used the first one listed, but they weren't using my "high rpm" cam.

maybe you should measure how far your piston are down the hole???
