I want a portable boost box to carry in my wife's van. Any recommendations in the $50 range?

At work we have one from Wal-Mart.Dynamite something or other. It was about $90 but its 600amp. Its pretty sturdy and works well.I don't know how reliable the cheaper ones are.the price usually goes up with the amperage ratings. saw Schumacher brand at Advance Auto. maybe something like this ? -

Not sure if 200 amps is sufficient or not.

I bought a 200A Black & Decker from Walmart. Didn't cut the mustard. I returned it and bought a 400A one at Costco. Haven't used it yet.

I have a coleman one that was a gift. It's useless. I believe it was the $50 one at the time it was purchased.

I picked up one from Harbor Freight with, that also has a air compressor with it... hasn't failed me yet in the last two years.

I have one thats a Prestone brand. Cant say its useless but I certainly wouldnt depend on it for a completly dead vehicle. The clamp suck big time for side terminal batterys. I got it as a gift, but im figuring it was probably around 50 bucks.

first, buy your wife a new bat for the van, it will last longer than buying a cheap jumper box

The van has a new battery. Last year my wife and mother were out of town and the battery let the down at a rest stop and it took a couple of hours for someone with brains to come along and help them and thats why I would like the box. Looks like I'll have to spenda little more money. It would also come in handy at the track if I forget to turn my fan and water pump off again.

I hava a Vetor thats a Piece of CR*P !! bought it at target, My buddy owns a body shop and uses his all the time and had it for 3 years. It is a harbor freight one. The next time I get there I am buying one!!

If you want the best buy a Jump N Carry. Not cheap.
