You need to be a little more specific. Yr of car? BB or SB? What dizzy and coil are you using? How is the 6a wired? What method are you using to trigger the 6a? How do you know its bad, did you do the test in the MSD instuctions? Do you have a tach and how is it wired?

From IgnitionMan (Dave Ray),

"If you are running a RED blaster II or III coil, that may well be the reason the MSD boxes are failing. Some hears ago, all RED Blaster II and III coil production was moved to Mexico, from the best coil manufacturer in the U.S. When this happened, the chrome coil production stayed in the U.S. From the time the RED coils started production in Mexico, there have been significant windings layer insulation problems, as it degrades, drops out of insulating the coil windings from contacting each other, and, overloading the boxes to failure.

The only way to test these coils is off the car, on a testing stand that some auto parts stores have. A simple resistance test most times, doesn't show the the layer shorting fault, but, running the coil on the machine will, because running the coil does two things, duplicates the coil running in the system, and, gets ti up to operating temperature, when the coil will then show the fault.

To make things worse in the last 3 months, MSD (AND Summit brand coils) has moved ALL Blaster II and III coil production from the various facilities in the U.S., and Mexico, to China. I have had reports on 30 or so China MSD Blaster coils RED and CHROME, and, those reports aren't the best. About 45 percent showed problems with those Chinese manufactured coils.

MSD does have a rebuilding service, isn't expensive, but, if the unit is still in warranty, MSD should repair/replace it for free for you.

All this is just FYI for you, do as wish".

I'm just the messenger.
