Mike Moran just ran 6.26/239.70 and 6.25/236.84 through his Flowmaster mufflers in Virgina. His twin turbo 540 inch motor is making 3300hp and 2600ft/lbs of torque. He's classified as an Outlaw Pro Mod (I guess because of the turbos). He also runs a Liberty trans and some custom driveline parts that Warren Johnson helped with - since he was blowing apart solid 1350 u-joints!!

That's very fast for any chassis door type car.

Its still skewed<sp>? Monte Carlos are front wheel drive vehicles, and this one is a rwd car,so we know its had extensive chassis work. I feel the same about NASCAR,they ought to run production vehicles, not their skin  if its front wheel drive,,,race it that way,,,that will impress me

I'm sorry that is NOT a street car by any means!! When they first came out with "The Fastest Street Car" class it was impressive. They were actually street cars! You could drive them for very long periods of time on a real street. And they ran 9's

Now like Rapid Robert said they are just wolves in sheeps clothing. Heck NHRA Pro Stockers are closer to street cars then his! At least they are C.I. limited and they run N/A.

But that's just my opinion!!! Which isn't worth much according to my wife! :D

Yes, there's nothing really street car about them. I don't even think they have to have working headlights anymore.

You guys are right - you won't see this car cruising on a Friday night anywhere. But where can you see a 2500 plus pound doorslammer (with working headlights, mufflers, gasoline, etc...) do these kind of numbers. The meets he competes at are billed as Street events. The car was originally a pro-stock car in 1999, but had to be upgraded with double tube frame because of the huge power this thing puts out.
"So where does he go from here? As Moran said, "Mile per hour doesn't mean anything, I want to run 5.90's." He wants to make some outlaw Pro Mod races but feels like even though he's two-tenths off where he wants to be, these runs have already put the fear in other competitors that say they don't even want to race against him. Since the car is making all the numbers on the back half of the track, the team has their work cut out for them and they're going to start working on the front half incrementals. Moran admits he isn't against the use of alternative fuels or other power-adders to get to that five-second time-slip if that's what it takes.

With some talk in the pits already about boycotting racing against him, if you don't see him anywhere else, Mike plans to field the car in Orlando for the this year's World Street Nationals October 15-17."

Just cause he can open up the doors don't make him any more of a street car than a Top Fuel Dragster. A street car is a car, not a tube chassis peice of tin. I hate how all these "Street" classes always start off good but then comes the guys with the tagged up race cars claiming their car is streetable. I bet half them couldnt even make it 5 miles down the road without overheating or breaking something.

The only half decent classes these days are Cheap Street and Drag Radial. Dwayne Gutridge in the 7's in a stock chassis mustang on BFG drag radials - now THATS an impressive street car :D
