Turbo action Cheetah SCS shifter

1. Does anyone have any likes or dislikes of this shifter?
2. How is it for durability?
3. Is there any other shifter that you would recommend over this.

best shifter i've used. I've tried B&M pro stick and ratchet, as well as Hurst's quarter stick.

None compair to the Cheetah!

I got one of the new Performance Products shifters this winter and have been very impressed with it. Haven't ran it yet, but I really like the design -

My transmission guy said he wouldn't warranty my race trans unless I dumped the B&M and went to Cheetah! Precision is the way I would describe its build and use! I personally then chose the Cheetah transbrake valve body also.

Blazerbob,
Where did you find the Cheetah transbrake? I need one for my 78. Thanks, Gary

Paddy,
Believe it was Summit for 360. Previously had TCI transbrake and as I backed car off trailer at the track trans immediately failed, no reverse or forward gears! Found some sloppy build quality issues inside manuel valve body. Will not purchase anything from TCI again period!

Thanks Brian.
I posted the question for a friend. He has a 69 Nova with a 4 speed and is buying a complete automatic setup from COAN. The converter, transmission with brake and reverse valve body, lines, cooler, fluid, and shifter.
Someone locally told him that the cheetah shifters were junk after 50 runs
I posted the question here to put his mind at ease. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

My friend Rick has a cheetah as well, he puts about 25 passes on it per weekend and races nearly every weekend during the season.

I had a Cheetah in my '70 Elco, I liked it.

I went with a Hurst Quarter-Stick with the little Z car because I needed a front entry cable type shifter.

Regardless, I am glad I did. I like the feel of the Quarter-Stick's detent action better than the Cheetah's gated action.

Not that it matters in terms of operation, but I like the Quarter-Stick's looks over the Cheetah's too.

Just my $0.02
