: New Rat motor project!
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity waiting for my block to come back from the machinist, I have started the new build!
Here is a couple of pics. Just finished installing the trash screens. the other shot of the block looking at it's new home. Todays goal is to get the rear main seal and crank installed and then paint the lifter galley with red glyptal.

Bob West Jan 29th, 05, 1:52 PM I'm using Ed's old comp cam, I'm sure he has a better suggestion now,,depending on use. .654/661 286/292 @.050 .248/254 107 lsa installed at 106.5 was as close as he could get it to 107 ICL billet roller with cast iron dist. gear. It might be a tad small for my 505 but it makes all kind of grunt :D
Slowpoke70 Jan 29th, 05, 2:31 PM Why are the machined surfaces that color? Looks really cool, but what does it do?
Robert, I was thinking something with a bit less lift, like the XR274R.
Brian, I still have your stub stack!!
Enrique,
That color was due to the heatlamp I had under the block. I was getting ready to "Glyptal" the thing and you bake that stuff after painting. Here it is after the paint. Crank is also installed, mission complete for the day! Good clearances, runout and endplay. Quitting while I am ahead

Mike, move out here to the East coast. I could use a good machinist with decent turnaround time. Those wolves like the snow, right?

Motor Martyr Jan 30th, 05, 12:33 AM LOL!
Anyways, let me know which tracks you plan to attend next season.
If you want to hang onto it you can, pay me a few dollars for it, and i'll give them to my friend who lent it to me. He doesnt need it, and would probably rather have a few bucks.
That works for me Brian. Let me know what he wants for it $$.
