Is there anything wrong with running aluminum fuel line (its cheaper)? Can you use an fittings on it? Didnt the cars come from the factory with aluminum fuel line?

I think most cars came with stainless steel fuel line. I think aluminum lines would tend to be too brittle and might be a problem any place close to heat.

For a race car, I see nothing wrong with aluminum lines. On the street vibration, over time, can work harden them. This can lead to cracks and leaks. Compression fittings work just fine. If you have an A-N flaring tool (35º? rather than the usual 45º) you can use A-N flair nuts. I think factory lines are mild steel not SS or aluminum.

If your spending much time on the street,i'd use stainless. I like your carb choice runnin a 750 mighty demon on my 496.

I bought 1/2" alum. line from an A/C supply house. Was cheaper than so called .. alum. " fuel" line. I used compression fittings on the ends that fit -8 AN.

heres a tip...you can use 45º flare and still use AN fittings with aluminum tube...the fitting conforms the soft aluminum to fit the flare smile.gif

Seems to be mixed feelings here. This is for a primarily street driven car. The car doesnt see many miles though. Last Night I had a race and I noticed definate fuel starvation bc my car has stock lines and stock pump feeding it. Braided is nice but costs more than 4x aluminum. How long until aluminum will become brittle?

Think about it, AC lines are alum. & carry high press. I wouldn't think becoming brittle would a prob. smile.gif

Alum in my opinion is fine for the street, but it is also my opinion that the larger tube sizes really suck to work with. It is tricky to make it look nice and I think it is harder to bend neatly and without kinks then steel lines.
