I installed a Total Vehicle System on my Chevelle and the front end is about 2 inches higher than the rear. The kit was supposed to lower the car 1 inch from factory specs. The springs I took out of the car were 38 years old but they were the originals as my grandfather bought the car new and I know they have never been changed. The rearend of the car sits nice but the front looks horrible with it so high. We done it at a buddy's shop yesterday and put in new urethane control arm bushings and every piece of the steering components were replaced. I've called hotchkis and all they can recommend is cutting the springs. I bought a kit for a small block, my car has aluminum heads, intake and radiator. I know it shouldn't sit all the way down but I don't think it should sit that much higher than the rear. Any of you guys that have Hotchkis equipment run into this? I've attached a couple pictures I took with my phone just so ya'll can have a idea.
Thanks in advance!

Are you sure you got the springs properly seated at the top and the bottom? At the bottom, the pigtail must fit into the recess in the lower arm made to receive it, and at the top the spring can sometimes get caught on the edge of the roughly invered cone shape depression in the frame rail that helps the spring centered in the suspension. Also, did you lube the suspension bushings inside and out?
Were the springs tagged in any way? Are you sure you got the springs you intended? It wouldn't be the first time the wrong parts got put in the wrong box.

Yea as soon as we lowered the car and seen the way it sat my buddy got a remote camera I'm sure some of the mechanics here are familiar with them it has a lead on it and you can put it where you want to see and watch a screen. We checked all that and they were seated properly. We greased the busings well when we put them in. I had to even get a buddy of mine that weighs 330lbs. and my dad who weighs 230lbs. to sit on the front fenders two on one side when we bolted it back together because even with my buddy that weighs 330 it started picking the car up off the lift trying to jack the a-arm up to re-connect everything. You can hardly even wiggle the car. I thought the spring rating should be somewhere around 350-400 instead of 500lb. As Hotchkis states they are, everything else seems to be great just the front sits way too high. I just hate to cut new springs and that still not fix it.

Both my cars have the TVS kit and both sat a little higher in the front. Both settled about another inch after a few hundred miles on the road but neither where as high in the front as yours is. I still want to cut a coil out the ones on my '70 too, it's still higher than I would like.

I cut the ones I put on my 70 about 10 years ago. They settled a little over time but only about .25" or so.
The springs I put on my 68 last year settled over night, at least an 1". I'd give it some time.

I had the same problem with the front end being much higher than the rear and soon after my friend did the same suspension on his el camino and had the same problem. This was with the 1" drop springs from hotchkis. Neither of our springs settled, maybe an unnoticeable amount but still doing a wheelie so to say. The solution I found is to incorporate lowering spindles as well as the springs. I went with 2" drop spindles from SSBC and it gave me the rake look I wanted as well as being somewhat slammed. The el camino also benefited from the spindles. If your looking for a slammed rake this is the way to go. But this is not for the faint hearted, you do lose alot of ground clearance.

Hmmmm.....I installed the Hotchkiss 1" lowering springs and my car sits pretty level if just a bit lower in the front . :) Did you check the number that is stamped on the springs to insure that they are indeed small block springs ? You should not need to cut the springs if they are correct the car will sit really nice.

Did you really tighten up all the control arm bushings before you had the car on the ground? I have seen this happen before where they are too tight and can cause a bind that prevents the car from settling to correct ride height. Try loosening all the control arm bushing bolts, setting the car back on the ground and push up and down on it a few times, then torque all the bolts with the weight of the car on them.
