so I am going to fire the fresh 383 in my 69 this weekend.. specs are..
11-1 compression.
comp 280 Magnum cam 232/234 deg. HYD
Full roller rockers.
full forged rotating assembly B+B je Pistons < eagle rods
Performer RPM 64ccHeads,RPM Intake and 750 man sec. eddy carb.
Hooker "Comp" headers, dynomax race mag mufflers kinda

TH 350 with a 25OO B+M "holeshot" converter and B+M shift kit
12 bolt Auburn posi w/ 3.73 richmonds + HD Superior axles.
body is all steel.. heard from several reliable sources this combo should be good for about 450 hp. desktop dyno, and a reputable dyno shop
all suspension bushings are poly, oversize front + rear sway bars, kyb gas-adjust shocks, Kirkey lightwieght seats, full interior otherwise..any ideas my fellow Chevelle comrades???? was hoping round 13's,, maybe 12's with tuning

So the weiner gets to keep the car...right?
Slicks or not?
That will be the determining factor.
I'd guess you should run 108mph....and that would get mid 12's with traction. 12.3 or so with great traction.
Folks will poo poo the Comp 280H....but they are good camshafts, and will make great power.

yeah I was going to run a 9.7" MT et street tire on the back.. why would they bash on the 280H though? do I need more cam? less?? this was the stick advised to me by several bracket racing buds, as well as comp.

Had a very similar setup in my '66. Same gears, cam, compression, except it was a 355sbc.
It ran 7.80's in the 1/8 mile.
If it hooks decent look for 12's in the 1/4. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

looks like a pretty good "street combo" to me. you should be able to get low 12's with great traction. now if you really wanted to step it up and run some 11's on motor, you could get some 200-215cc aluminum heads, a larger camshaft, and about a 3500 convertor, and a Holley carb too. ;) :D

well I really wanted this to be more of a respectable "street" combo.. that accelerates, corners and brakes well. Eventually, I would like to put some dog-dishes in it, and a little bit of forced induction to get a comparable result. the local po-lice dont really care for 3500 stalls around here. course a T56 is always nice to have too...
