Are steering colums the same for both the 4-speed and automatic, console systems? I have a 4-speed and need to replace mine or have it rebuilt. Anyone know who rebuids them?

They are slightly different(assuming 68-72). The arm under the hood that connects to the back drive (the linkage that locks the gear selector when the ignition key is shut off) is longer on a manual where as on an auto, it is short (I think I have them listed correctly based on my memory).

I have photos of the difference on my home pc. I'll try to post some pictures tonight.

Thanks, that helps! Now I need to find someone to rebuild mine!

Try Steering Columns Galore in NY. They did an outstanding job on mine right down to new keys for about $325. Jerry
