I am interested in building a 500-550hp 454.
any help with combo's would be great. This combo will be mostly street driven.

Also a buddy of mine has a borg and beck type clutch w/a solid hub(no center springs) clutch disk. The disk has kevlar on both sides, local speed shop told him this was the way to go.He has a street/strip '70 Nova 496 M22.Does this sound like a good clutch set-up??

Have you tried a search on these topics? I know there have been TONS of great big block combos posted on here through the years, try searching with a few key words. Im sure you will find all the info you want. Im thinking thru the same thing for this year, not sure which way I will go either. John

Your goal should be pretty easy. Paw sells longblock kits for this for like $2700. 454 slightly ported (maybe untouched )heads and a performer rpm somewhere around 10-1 comrpession nice mid 500 lift, 230 duration @.05 lift cam and a 750ish carb should yield your goal.

DSTRBDZ,

Everything I have ever read or heard says to stay away from B&B pressure plates and non-dampening clutch disks for street. The B&B's have higher pedal pressure that can make driving a PITA in traffic, and the non-dampened disks make "normal" street driving difficult as they don't engage as smoothly as a dampened one. Just MHO.
