im to far out for Verizon, no cable on my street, so my only choice is sat.(and an air card is marginal)-the problem with that is i have trees all around, but do have a clear path on my garage, where i have my sat tv dish, and i have a conduit from the garage to the house
for underground wires
i have 2 coax. cables to the house, but one uses the tv dish, and sat int. takes 2 coaxs.
i tried to get them to come out and do a survey, but they said i would have to order the service, then they would mail me the box, then the installer would come out-if he cant install it, i would send the box back-seems kind of stupid to me
i still may order it, and just have them string the lines thru the trees to the house, then bury them next spring
does sat int work ok-i have wild blue and hughes in my area, hughes being $10 more a month

I have Sprint wireless. A "thingy" plugs into my laptop (USB). Its about 6 times faster than a dialup where I live. They have a coverage map on their site. The cool thing is that I've used it in about 7 or 8 states and get good signal everywhere I've been. That said, my brother lives 6 miles North of me and its only about 3 times dialup at his house. He went with a different vendor. Its a little pricey I thought ($60 mo) till I started pricing satellite versions.......... and then there IS the mobility thing.

I use Hughes they been around a while. Wild Blue is the new kid on the block
I took advange of a Hughes offer for a free updated Sat Box now I have a spare if anything happens to the first box.
Be careful with Wild Blue they are not apples to apples as far as service and price read the fine print carefully
I almost got hooked into Wild Blue on a phone call
hint speed in download they quote you the slow speed of 512kps so its is about $10 cheaper
Hughes 1 MBPS down, 128 KBPS up $59.99
WB 1 MBPS down, 200 KBPS up $69.95
