My 69 Chevelle has black plastic inner fenders. Are these correct? Shouldn't they be metal?

Both were used, some cars had one of each.

What Dan said, I have seen them both ways.

Do they reproduce the plastic inner fenders?

Ground-up and other supply houses carry both plastic and metal. http://www.ss396.com/FRONTINNERFENDERS (http://www.ss396.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=chevellecamino&Category_Code=FRONTINNERFENDERS)

BTW. The 72 I had years ago had one of each. Original..

Forget the plastic ones. The repro metal ones are much better even though they will require some work to install.

Do the plastic and metal inner fenders mount the same? Why should they require more work to install?

Because they are made on inferior equipment and won't fit. It is very hard to modify a molded plastic part whereas steel parts can be massaged to fit. Neither is a bolt on and forget it part.
