Hey all,

I'm looking for a Comp Cams camshaft, part number 11-727-9. Anybody have any ideas where I can get the best pricing? I've checked Summit and it's the same price as a local speedshop here with the shipping charge. Thanks for any help in advance!

Are you dead set on Comp?

I'm with Brian here, there are other choices. But if you have to have that specific product, and the pricing's the same, support your local retailer! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

You will need them someday, and it'll be nice if they're still there.

My appologies for makeing this sound like I'm pileing on here but I agree with Brian and Chad...
If you must have that cam then great.... If not then there are others and mail order isnt the only place to purchace parts....A local engine builder / Speed shop / Auto parts store many times can provide excelent service and knowelege.... Not all but many are a very valuable resource that is often times overlooked.... Good luck with the engine! graemlins/beers.gif

Hey all,

Actually, the cam isn't for me........one of my older friends who isn't really computer literate wanted me to get him a price.

They're might be better pieces out there, but my friend has a 68 Camaro race car that's runs 9.40's with a pump gas 482, so he must know what he's doin!!

After my ordeal (lost cam) I was glad I dealt with Summit Racing, they didn't even question me, just sent me a whole new K-Kit just for asking.I'm not sure my local speed shop would have done the same. Keep in mind, that I own a small business & love to support them when I can, but they don't always have the clout to push something like that through...

Of course as always, just my .02

Living in Summits backyard helps too,,,when you can go face to face with someone it makes a big difference,,,,they would argue with me on the phone til my dying day before they would refund any money on a wiped cam. I was told that I needed to talk to Lunati about the lost lobe on my sons Lunati cam...the current Comp cam has/is holding up longer than any of the previous 2 cams, I don't know if its the lifters or a slightly larger cam.

Ya, I'm only 1/2 hr away from them, but I never talked to a sole. Just sent them an email, & they sent me the whole new K-Kit..... Just that easy...

I also know of someone (TC member) who got one from Jegs a year after buying it..
