doggy69 Jun 9th, 04, 9:24 PM Wiseco or JE but thats me.
Pat Kelley Jun 9th, 04, 9:47 PM Wisecos are nice. My nephew is using Probe and likes them. Are you having custom pistons built? I'm not sure anyone has them "on the shelf," if the "Z" you are referring is a DZ engine.
BillK Jun 9th, 04, 10:06 PM Richard,
I have two new sets of the original style TRW's. I think they are both .030 oversize. If you are interested, send me an e-mail.
bigjimzlll Jun 9th, 04, 10:08 PM I like the wiseco pro-trus...great price and good quality...not fond of the probe pistons..had some problems with them
Matt Leuck Jun 9th, 04, 10:35 PM The only ones I've used out of those are JE full floaters. Very nice, IMO.

airrj Jun 9th, 04, 11:08 PM I have used Wiseco, JE, and Ross in recent years with good results in all cases. None were custom units they were off the shelf pistons.
baddbob71 Jun 9th, 04, 11:23 PM I bought SRP for my 468 but haven't run them yet. SRP had the dome size I needed and reasonable.
Wolfplace Jun 10th, 04, 12:33 AM I have used all except Cosworth & get most of my customs from Diamond.
SRP are made by JE
JE & Weisco are now owned by the same company.
Another two top of the line pistons are Mahle & CP.
You will not go wrong with any of the major players they all make a very good product in my opinion ;)
I am using venolia pistons now. Spendy but simply the best IMO...
nakamura_racing_sports Jun 10th, 04, 5:14 AM I think the JE or SRP is very good. Also have used Wiseco which is very nice. But I heard that Mahle is one of the best. Try to call them and ask for what you need. Everyone I called who is a dealer for them wanted $700 for 4.155 shelf pistons, but when I called Mahle direct, they said it would only be 400 something. THey make a lot of custom pistons too.
Chevy454 Jun 10th, 04, 10:37 PM CP, hands down... graemlins/beers.gif
engineguy Jun 11th, 04, 9:40 AM I use CP Pistons almost exclusively for race engines. Their pistons are of excellent quality, the service and technical support is the very best. You can reach them at 949.567.9000 ask for Dave, or fax at 949.567.0910.
Rich-L79 Jun 11th, 04, 10:56 AM Another vote for the JE/SRP pistons. I honestly don't know much about the other brands, but I do like JE. In the distant past I was a diehard TRW fan, and they make very good stuff, but the JEs are available in more sizes and for more applications than many, are as well made as TRWs but weigh noticably less which is good for engine longevity.

If I didn't already have a nice used set of TRW's going in the current 454, Venolia's would of been the piston.
I got mine for $500 a set the last time. JE's are the same price. I get them through my machinist who gets a better rate than most.
