I have a TH400 with reverse manual and a trans brake, 4.56 gears outback. Any using a under/overdrive on a 3 speed auto?

I'm running one behind my 454-turbo 400. I think it was worth every penny i paid, the gear splitting is a blast and the overdrive help's at the gas pump.

I bought one but it's not installed yet. I tried to put it in quite awhile ago & it interfered with my tunnel. I think I need to modify the crossmember.

I read something on certain years you have to modify the crossmember and ding the tunnel where the top bolts are.

I'm getting one!

So it is agreed they are worth using. If any of you are using them down the drag strip, how are you shifting? Are you using the electronics that came with it, or some other setup? I want to use for 1st, 1st over, 2nd and 2nd over.

1st Over comes VERY quickly, it's a waste on the street.

However, the new units shift OUT of OD automatically, which will make the shifting even easier than it is.

GV's website says to shift immediately into 1st Over when racing, the unit will automatically take you to a 22% higher speed before needing to shift to 2nd. It makes sense, but I haven't tried it that way myself.

Trans tunnel needs to be modified, and GV sells a crossmember already modified. The tunnel mod is EASY with a hammer, far far easier than I thought it would be. Electronics are a snap to connect, everything is phone jack connections and color coded.

I had one behind my old Muncie, I had to cut the tranny tunnel to make it fit. The Gear Vendors is very well built and strong, the Muncie got sick and needed to be rebuilt so I replaced it with a TKO600 and sold the GV but I think It would be a great addition to a TH400.
