The sad fact of the matter here is that you are correct about the 15 second passes with the 350....in 06 and 07. The new reality is that I will not sleep in 09 until I have fendered you.....
I will be launching HARD and you will have to try to run me down.... You will be like this :eek: when you are looking at my tailgate ahead of you on the strip.....
Interesting that you up your cam as soon as I get my 454 in the car.....

Without my 350 Elky, or snail-like progress on the 454 parts-gathering/build, you guys have little to comment on! So, why NOT talk a little smack....liven the place up a bit!!!

Nov 14th, 08, 2:17 PM
So George, whats faster? The vette or the camino?

kettbo
Nov 14th, 08, 2:26 PM
Which is faster?
So far, the Vette. This is because the Vette kinda/sorta gets traction.....
The Elky simply destroys the tires on the cold and damp streets....does not help that the arse of the Elky is up in the air....we'll see with a few bolt-ons....and car stance changes....

I do think that the RatVette vs my Elky would be interesting...but they are totally different experiences due to height, seat shape, driving position, 4-spd vs auto.....'seat of the pants dyno' is hard-pressed to tell...would have to line em up and run em.

I have the DS header of the Elky 1/2 out.....doing some repairs on it this evening....with "propest" John. Currently defrosting from my earlier trip to the garage and earlier pressure-washing Part II on the RV pad.

Now that I have a few $$$ coming in not earmarked for remodel, or kid tuition, or or or...the Vette will get the 'above 55' severe wandering fixed over the winter/pre-season spring. Worry about the RatVette is what really caused you to beat your 1st attempt at 454 to smithereens. :boring: I suppose I should at least have the headers on it when I run you due to our cams being so big of a difference.

See now things are lively again on TCNW

Brett,

PNB bought the 454 .040-over shortblock from me that I had traded stuff to get from DB. This was several months ago...the weekend that you, ahm, broke down en route to the freeway from the track at Bremerton.

Funds from this little transaction allowed me to get my spare 454 outa the machine shop, and get it into the Elky.....

Yes, Brett has parts, I have a few things, Mike P has a few odds and ends. Of course, DOC has somewhere between a bunch and a shi+load of BBC stuff.....

I was thinking about this today . Would it not be cool to bring out a TCNW group of cars to this and see if we could get one (or more) of ours into the sweet sixteen. If we really went about this as a true team, we could strategically place our cars for the best chance to get in the picked time group. Think about it folks we had fourteen cars racing during our gathering in August at Bremerton. There are even more now. Why could we not put together a 20+ car team to bring to this event :hurray:. It would be kind of cool If one of us made it to the final four and had 20 or more TCNW t-shirt wearing friends with them :D.

My hope for this group is that by august we can get our cars sorted out and reaches a level of consistency. So when this advent starts we know what our rides are capable of. That way we can qualify for the event and maybe spread ourselves across the field and see if we can get one or more TCNW guys into the final. This would be a departure from the way we have done things in the past. typically we are all about going faster and trying to improve. That mind set does not always work well if you are trying to for consistent times. It will be hard to convince some of my fellow TCNW's to leave their cars alone for one or more TNT and work on consistent times so we can see how we cover the field. But I am sure with Doc and Arron leading the way we can accomplish this .

I am going to see if a 10 second diesel truck will make the cut

It wil be tough to build boost doing the arm drop thing and not burn up the transmission but it would be fun :hurray:

When Pinks AllOut came to Detroit (Milan Dragway) - registration was full in 15 minutes! A friend of mine just told me today that he would not do it again - he waited hours to make a pass - and then find out he does not make the cut.
Fun stuff going on there otherwise - but if you're a racer and don't make it, it's kind of a bummer.
Looks like Rich from the TV show is coming back here August 7 & 8 - they're calling it "ArmDrop Live" - wonder what that means?

It looks like registration takes place online only (through Ticketbasta..). It cost $60 dollars for the car and driver for Fri. and Sat. . registration seems to happen about 90 days before the event. Cars must be 12.99 or faster (:( for me). Registrations have been selling out any any where between 10 minutes and 50 minutes. but there is a second chance deal that allows between 10 and 40 cars to race there way in the field. It seem as though some people love the whole experience and others would never do it again. I am going to see how close I can come to the qualifying speed in April with my new setup. If I am close enough I will probable ask our local nitrous guru for some help :D (You out there Doc).

This whole Pinks deal has me wondering what I'll even run once I get it on the track and tuned. First time out I don't expect much but I'll be prepared. Of course with the 12 bolt under it(peace of mind) and at least a 150 shot I'll have a chance......drag wheels and slicks are a no-brainer. With a 4 speed, it's more driver error associated than most of you guys running an automatic, but I do have an overdrive I may use for a clutchless shift. I don't really know what to expect but I'd like to hit 11.99....lofty goal probably but it's a target to shoot for.

Gears, tires and some induction help (larger carb). I left a little on the table last year, the smaller carb cost me 30hp. I needed to sort some other stuff out, mainly me ;). I needed to find a good baseline for my combo. I found it at 13.80. I am not totally happy with this, I do want a little more :D. My hope is to be able to get a 0.4 to 0.5 reduction in my time. If Ol' Blue is good to me and I make this, I will spray my way to a 12.90 for Pinks I hope .

With my new solid cam and head work, I'm hoping to be rock steady in the 11.50's on engine, and really hoping to see 10.90's on the juice.

My wife said she'd like to come down and meet the crew for Pinks. She's more jacked up about it than I am.

Surely someone from our crew is going to make the sweet 16.

I wanna see the Blue Wonder after the mods....
Really impressive with the current 3.08 gears and street tires.
The DRs and gears should shave a lot off the launch with the new carb upping the mph at least one-two notches.

I just got my name on the to-call list from PIR. I also got my friend Gary on the list. We are #195 + #196 on the call list. They will call us a couple days prior to registration opening, to tell us when we can register. There will be a total of 464 spots for the Pinks event.

The number to call is 253-639-5927. Good luck.

They will also have a small group (50 or less) that can race their way in the weekend before the main event. this seems to be the way pinks is handling the overwhelming number of entries for their events.

John did they give you any clue as to when the registration will be (like which month)? Registrations have been selling out anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours :(.

Not surprising. I just did a little research and all the "Pinks all out" events are sold out up to ours at Pacific. The one just before ours tickets went on sale 12/01/09 . They are also having a "Last Chance" race your way in event. Check out their flier http://www.us131motorsportspark.com/assets/pink%20qualif%20flyer.pdf.

I like the Idea of all the different categories, it gives everyone a chance.

EDIT- I think everyone who is thinking about this event and can meet the qualifying requirements should call Pacific and have their name put on the list. I just looked at how the registration was going in the event following ours. They have decided to do it by E-mail in the order they were received . using a tier system with a cutoff date and followup qualifying races.
