I'm definately buying a new set of American Racing Torque-Thrust II wheels shortly. I have Polished now on my car but they seem to hold dirt and scratch easily although there 4 years old. What do you think of Chrome for a change..? I need Pro's and Con's and possibly a picture if your running chrome wheels on your ride. The cost of 4 Chromed wheels over polished are pricey so I want to do this right the first time....Thanks....Polished or Chromed..?

I vote for the polished. I have the TTII's in polished on my 67 and love them. They look gorgeous and have more of a lower luster shine to them, and look classier to me than the chrome ones. I've seen the chrome ones before, and they seem to stand out much more, and you focus more on the wheels than the car as a whole, as you would with the polished. Plus the polished are cheaper, just my two cents though.

I prefer the polished, the chrome will eventually crack and peel over time, the chrome wheel will be heavier, and the chrome just isn't as classy as the polished.

depends entirely on the wheel, but for the TTII's, I'd go polished.

Why not go with a set of Coys wheels (see my sig) instead of TT 2's? It seems that everyone has TT 2's.
I went with the polished Coys on my Elco. I definately need to purchase a Mothers Mini Power Ball soon.

I have them in polished. A little elbow grease and they almost look chrome.

WOW-6 for 6 on buying Polished TT's. I'm leaning towards them and would save $400 to boot.. I also still like the looks of the Chrome TT's but mabey there just too showy. Gotta mull it over some more. Any more wanna chime in...? Where's the Pro Chrome guys....? Remember-Chrome won't get ya home..! HA..!

Ok, I'll bite. I laughed when one of the posters mentioned that he now needs to purchase a Mother's Mini Power Ball to polish his wheels. I prefer chrome and always have. They just set off the car. Cleaning? Wipe them off with glass cleaner and you're done. I've had both and vote chrome all the way (unless you just love polishing your wheels for hours on end all the time). And remember why you are polishing them so much to begin with.....to get them nice and shiny like chrome!

The main reason a vote for polish from me is that the natural aluminum looks better then chrome IMO. Yeah, I may need a Mini Power Ball sometime soon, but at least I know that the finish will never chip or peel off like chrome can.

SS4Real has it right. I agree 100%. Go chrome and enjoy more driving or wrench turning. I've had both, and it's not a contest, unless you like the dull luster look. Just be prepared to take care of polished wheels. Point not mentioned yet, our cars have big arse bumpers, and I prefer the matching chrome wheels.

I will vote for chrome because polishing your wheels all the time sucks even with a mothers power ball, but the ttII ONLY THE CENTER IS CHROME NOT THE OUT SIDE HOOP IT IS POLISHED.
Full chrome wheels are much easier to clean.

Now I'm totally indecisive!!! Chrome or polished-chrome or polished-chrome or polished...???? Big decisions are never easy..!!

When you scratch or chip chrome it is done and cannot be fixed. Scatches and dings can be sanded and polished out of aluminum wheels. And they only need polished a few times a year and even less if your prize is kept in a garage with low humidity. I had the same dilema picking motorcycle wheels and went with polished.

If your ride is a fairweather car and you're attentive to your maintenance, go with chrome. I do like polished, but lots of work.

I hate chrome wheels (too shiny), but will agree they are easy to keep clean.

I've been wanting to sand mine with 1000 or something because even polished is too shiny IMHO. I like the look of a dull silver "natural" aluminum.

Chrome is to tacky and overwhelming IMO. I have always liked the look of polished wheels. Although one chrome rim I do like is the time tested Cragar SS.
