1970 SS 454 with a turbo 400 right now. I want the easiest swap to get to a Reliable overdrive. Is there one that I can bolt right in? I read about 4l60s and 4l80e 700r4 but I don't see anywhere how much a swap entails.

Oh yea, I would like to do it quickly too - so something readily available if possible.

I swapped out my PG for a 200 4r. Out of the box, the 700 r4 is stronger, but the strength potential of the 200 4r is greater. The 200 4r is also easier to swap. It was a direct swap for the PG - no modifcations to the drive shaft and I only had to move the crossmember back. The holes were already in the frame. This was on my 69 convertible.

oh yeah, the 4L60 4L80 trannies are electronic and require more work to install.

Get a Bowtie Overdrives tv cable kit and their geometry corrector bracket for the TV mount at the carb. Very important to get the TV cable right or you will destroy the trans in short order.
